We’ll departure Saturday 9:00am from meeting point Downtown/Auckland.
The Waitakere bush ranges are west of Auckland and overlook the city and the Waitemata Harbour. We visit the Arataki Information Centre where you can learn about the region, its history, and future developments of the forest. From there, we head to Piha Beach – one of New Zealand’s most famous surf beaches. At Piha, we can watch surfers as well as stroll along the beach.
We then hike up to the nearby Karekare Waterfall for lunch. Enjoy a nice break at this beautiful natural setting.
After lunch, we will then walk down to Karekare Beach. Take your time enjoying a nice beach walk or have a swim in the ocean. The next activity today is a short bush walk ( over 45 minutes) in which we’ll see native flora and fauna – an enjoyable activity for everyone.
Last but no least, we have the opportunity to see a colony of Australian Gannets at Muriwai. A great experience to see these amazing birds so close. It feels like watching Discovery Channel!!
